This paper analyses atmospheric pollution of light goods vehicles (LGVs, freight vehicles lighter than 6 t) and medium goods vehicles (MGVs, i.e. 6-24 t delivery trucks) in Denmark, and evaluates the scope for emission reductions. LGVs are very inefficient vehicles, and moreover have inappropriate utilisation patterns, while MGVs, in comparison, are more efficient vehicles with better utilisation patterns. An emission inventory of these vehicles is produced, covering fuel consumption and a range of emissions, and including heavy goods vehicles (HGVs, over 24 t) for comparison. Finally the scope for emission reductions through technical improvements is assessed.
