Abstract

Evidence is given that in some Gd containing host lattices energy transfer from a sensitizer to an activator can occur via Gd3+ions. Their intermediate role can increase the efficiency of the transfer process so that relatively low activator concentrations are sufficient to achieve complete transfer. © 1979.
