Abstract

Monocrystals of the tetragonal compound UCoGa5 were grown. Magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity and thermoelectric power were measured both along the tetragonal c-axis and in the perpendicular direction. The electronic band structure was calculated by the tight-binding linear muffin-tin orbitals method in the atomic sphere approximation, with spin-orbit interactions taken into account. The X-ray photoemission spectrum was measured and calculated with a satisfactory agreement. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
