Abstract

Work carried out at Germany's Kaiserslautern Technical University in conjunction with KSB has thrown light on the performance of submersible mixers in the handling of viscous, shear-thinning fluids. Understanding the factors that influence the flow behaviour in these systems should help to improve the design of mixing ponds for sewage sludges. Lutz Urban and his colleagues provide the details. © 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
