More on the employment effects of innovation

Abstract

This paper discusses in the context of a fully specified model Hagen's argument that technological innovation increases unemployment, tends to immiserate, and increases the inequality of income distribution. The employment consequences are stressed, but since the conclusions in relation to this issue are ambiguous, it is also concluded that there is ambiguity in relation to the other questions. © 1985.
