Abstract

A method is proposed for transmission IR spectroscopy studies of chemisorption phenomena on mineral surfaces. The method permits separate analysis of the reaction products present in the adsorbed state and those present in the form of bulk precipitate. It is based on the difference between the fineness of the mineral and that of the bulk precipitate. The method which involves double filtering of the treated mineral, has been applied to study the adsorption of KEtX on unsulphidized and sulphidized cerussite. © 1998.
