We have evaluated novel oxidative dye couplers based on 4,6-bis(aryloxy)-m-phenylenediamines. The aryloxy groups are displaced upon coupling and then participate in further color formation. A mixture of up to four different dyes can therefore be produced from a single coupler-primary intermediate interaction. © 1990.
