Abstract

This paper proposes a model for the calculation of the transition probability per unit time w for nucleon transfer between a finite nucleus and a slab of semi-infinite nuclear matter. The transfer is treated in first-order perturbation theory and w is given by a Fermi golden rule type of formula. The absorptive part of the heavy-ion scattering potential Wintrans, due to one-nucleon transfer is then obtained from w. The dependence of Wintrans on the incident energy, on the choice of the model parameters, and on the Pauli principle conditions is studied in detail. Results are compared to those obtained from other existing theories and to phenomenological values. © 1985.
