Abstract

Thin films of cadmium stannate are prepared by spray pyrolysis technique with thickness less than 1 μm. Optical transitions were analysed in terms of the imaginary part of dielectric constant giving rise to direct allowed transition of 2.81 eV, indirect allowed transition of 2.15 eV together with assisting phonon of 0.058 eV. The electronic transitions are also estimated from the variation of refractive index and extinction coefficient with photon energy. © 1989.
