Abstract

Exchange splittings of Fe, Ni and Co are investigated by the XPS analysis of several amorphous alloys: Fe40Ni40P14B6, Co58 Fe5Ni10Si11B16 and Fe80B20. The exchange splitting for iron atoms in alloys is 4.7 eV as in metallic iron. In the case of Ni, in contrast with the pure metal, Ni atoms in alloys do exhibit zero splitting. © 1986 Elsevier Science Publishers B.V. (North-Holland Physics Publishing Division).
