Photosensitization of membrane components

Abstract

The chemical mechanisms of the photosensitized peroxidation of unsaturated fatty acids and cholesterol are reviewed and the subsequent reactions of peroxide decomposition products with biological targets such as DNA and amino acids are analyzed.
