Isotherms of adsorption of various high-pressure gases (Ar, N2, CH4, CO, CO2, C2H4, C2H6, and N2O) onto zeolite adsorbents (Linde 5A and 13X) have been measured under the following conditions: temperature = 25, 50, and 75°C; pressure = 1-∼ 180 atm for N2 and 1-∼100 atm for the other gases. Considering the interaction between the quadrupole of the adsorbate molecule and the electrostatic field in the zeolite cavity, a new method of generalizing the adsorption equation has been established. The applicability of this method is demonstrated to be wider than that of the previous method, by using the high-pressure adsorption data obtained in the present work and in the preceding work. © 1981.
