Abstract

The polarized absorption spectra and intensities of trivalent neodymium-doped sodium β″ alumina (Nd3+ :SBA) were obtained and analyzed using a modified Judd-Ofelt theoretical approach. The sigma and pi polarized intensity parameters show that the behavior of Nd3+ ions in the uniaxial crystal is somewhat complex. © 1991.
