Abstract

NbC/C/NbC to approximately NbC composite microcoils and microtubes were prepared by vapor phase metallizing of regular carbon microcoils, and the preparation conditions and some properties were examined. The carbon coils were niobilized from the surface to the core with preservation of the coiling morphology to form NbC/C/NbC to approximately NbC composite microcoils or microtubes. The bulk electrical resistivity and specific surface area were 0.3 to 0.02 Ω·cm and 2 to 18 m2/g, respectively, depending on the niobilized ratio and the bulk density.
