The radicals H3M3(CO)9(μ3-C·), generated by photolyzing a mixture of Re2(CO)10 and H3M3(CO)9(η3-CBr) (M = Ru, Os), are found to add to C6F6 and C6H5F. With C6F6 the major products are the pentafluorophenyl derivatives H3M3(CO)9(μ3-CC6F5), whereas with C6H5F the major products are the phenyl derivatives H3M3(CO)9(ν3-CC6H5). © 1991.
