Abstract

Phospholipase A2release from platelets and macrophages was assayed by means of a modified, rapid bioassay based on the hydrolysis of E. coli membranes. Enzyme activity was found in the supernatants of both washed, aggregated platelets and concanavalin A stimulated macrophages from afferent lymph of sheep. Phospholipase A2may be related to the vasoactive moiety secreted by antigen or mitogen stimulated macrophages. © 1980.
