Abstract

Axial-vector (spin) excitation of127I by inelastic scattering of dark matter (DM) was studied to search for spin-coupled DM. The inelastic process from127I has the advantages of a large cross-section, a large scintillation output and of a known nuclear matrix element. Stringent limits by direct measurements were obtained on the purely spin-coupled DM candidates. © 1993.
