What is infantile sexuality? It is the genital immaturity during childhood, which protects humans from the confrontation with adult sexuality that implies the paradoxical encounter with castration. This infantile omnipotence is supported by a sexuality split into two components that for a long period mutually ignore each other: the infantile sexual curiosity on one hand and the autoerotic pleasure stemming from the genitalia on the other. This natural cleavage in sexuality explains the particularities of sexuality in childhood. Nevertheless, cultural and educational pressures cannot be ignored. Nowadays, the individual right to one's sex drive, to one's sexuality, is recognised in children as in adults; recognition that clearly modifies the questions concerning the repression during the latency.... ?? 2009.
