We present an analysis of the probability distribution and moments for the counting-rate asymmetry function observed in a class of polarization and angular correlation measurements. The theory is based on the assumption that these experiments employ a pair of detectors which generate Poisson point processes in continuous time. The results are generalized to asymmetry measurements derived from multidetector systems. © 1979 North-Holland Publishing Co.
