Abstract

1. 1. We investigated the sterol composition of Black Sea Actinaria species-Actinia equina and Edwarsia sp. The qualitative and quantitative composition of sterols and sterol esters, as well as their seasonal variations, were established. 2. 2. Methyl esters of fatty acids were identified in a number of samples. The obtained data on sterols and esters pointed to the possibility that two forms of A. equina might exist. 3. 3. In A. equina, a dealkylation of injected phytosterols was obtained. © 1987.
