Abstract

A study of the electroactivity decay of polythiophene (PT) film electrodes is reported. It has been found that PT film loses its electroactivity when the applied potential is scanned between 0 - 2.2 V (versus SCE) in the monomer-free electrolyte solution. Based on the analyses of the structures and the properties of such degraded PT films, a possible passivation process of PT film has been proposed. © 1989.
