Abstract

The reaction of 4-[3-(1,2,4-triazolyl)-1,2,4-triazole] (trtr), 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid (H4btec), with Co(II) and Cu(II) salts yields two complexes [Co(trtr)2(H2O)4](H2btec)(H2O)4 (1) and {[Cu(trtr)2(H2btec)(H2O)](H2O)6}n (2). 1 is comprised of monomeric [Co(trtr)2(H2O)4]2+ cation, H2btec2- anion, and lattice water molecules. The structure of 2 is an one-dimensional chain. 1 further forms a three-dimensional hydrogen bonding network. However, 2 constructs a two-dimensional hydrogen bonding network. © 2009 Elsevier B.V.
