Abstract

[MoO2(butanediolato)2· 2(butanediol)] reacts with the Schiff base SAIH in methanol to afford the title complex which has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and electronic spectroscopy and TGA. The single crystal X-ray structure of the complex reveals that the molecule possesses the usual cis-MoO22+ core and that the ligand SAIH is present as a tridentate donor coordinating through ONO, which forms one five-membered ring and one six-membered ring. The sixth coordination site around Mo is occupied by a methanol molecule, giving the molybdenum a distorted octahedral configuration. © 1992.
