Abstract

1. 1. Enzyme heterogeneity at the liver IDH locus(i) has been examined in a hatchery population of rainbow trout as related to the observed Kmtemperature response. 2. 2. Those genotypes which show multiple IDH forms exhibit an increase in Kmat high assay temperatures, resulting in thermal stabilization of reaction at low (intracellular) substrate concentrations. 3. 3. A large number of individuals, however, maintain a single IDH in liver and the possibility of modulation by cellular metabolite, ion and/or enzyme concentration alterations is discussed as methods for this phenotype to achieve thermally compensated activities. © 1972.
