Abstract

We have performed an optical characterization of photoinduced carriers in the Mott insulator YTiO3 by using the optical pump-terahertz probe spectroscopy. The complex conductivity, σ (ω), of photoinduced carriers is deduced to be similar to that of bad metals. The energy relaxation time of the photoinduced carriers is longer than 13 ns. The anisotropic terahertz response of photoinduced state is confirmed. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
