Abstract

Syntheses of sodalites have been made using different anions, showing anion structure direction to sodalite or cancrinite. Substitution of framework cations has similar structure direction with Fe3+ and Cr3+ promoting sodalite crystallization. Characterization of sodalites made at different Fe/Al ratios shows that at low levels of substitution most of the Fe3+ enters the framework sites (<0.05), but with increasing Fe/Al, iron partitions increasingly between framework and precipitated nano-crystal matrix hydroxide. © 1992.
