The low-lying meson spectrum including u, d, s and c quarks is studied by means of a random-walk technique combined with a strong-coupling mean-field approximation. Hopping parameters as a function of the coupling constant are determined and compared with Monte Carlo results. The quark masses are estimated also. © 1982.
