My current research focuses on molecular basis of Parkinson’s disease pathogenesis. We are investigating the role of autophagy dysfunction as a possible mechanism of disease progression. Specifically, my thesis focuses on investigating autophagy dysfunction by a mutation in the vacuolar protein sorting protein 35 gene (VPS35 D620N) that has been linked to familial Parkinson’s Disease.
