About

I have been involved in various aspects of ecosystem management and governance for over twenty years. The initial nine years of my career was “hands on” land based practice as a horticulturalist and arboriculturalist and as a manager of a 250 hectare estate and wildlife park. It was during this period that I became driven by the question that continues to excite me, “how can ecosystems be best managed?”. Later, I was able to mix practice more effectively with science through my five years at Biosphere 2 in Arizona, managing five different ecosystems, this ultimately compelled me to study environmental science and do a PhD in catchment management, an area I have continued to work in.
