About

Afshin is currently Program Leader of Civil Engineering at the International College of Auckland, New Zealand. Afshin was formerly a Senior Research Fellow (Grade UDQ9) for Housing Research Center, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2016. He completed a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering. He worked as a licensed engineer for several years and provided several geotechnical and structural engineering services to many private-sector and public-sector clients in the state of Isfahan, Isfahan Association of Construction Engineers, Isfahan, IR. He completed a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering-Environmental Engineering. He was then appointed as Deputy Head (Academic and Students Affairs) and Lecturer at Sama Technical and Vocational Training College, Khorasgan Branch, Azad University, Isfahan, IR. He conferred a Ph.D. in Geotechnical and Geological Engineering in 2010. Thereafter, he completed his postdoctoral studies at the Universiti Putra Malaysia. He received the Australia-Awards Endeavour Fellowship to undertake research (Soil chemical stabilization) under supervision of Prof. Buddhima Indraratna in the Department of Civil, Mining & Environmental Engineering at the University of Wollongong, Australia in 2012. He was also awarded the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Invitation Fellowship (JSPS award) to participate in cooperative research work (electro-bio-stabilization of soil) with host researcher, Prof. Satoru Kawasaki in the Department of Sustainable Resources Engineering and Geoenvironmental Engineering at the Hokkaido University in 2014. More recently, he has been awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions - Research Fellowship Programme (experienced category), Bio-cementation for railway earthworks — BioRail.
