Aguinaldo dos Santos is married with Ana Lucia and a proud father of Lucca and Thomas. He lives and works in Curitiba, Brazil. Research interests on the field of Sustainable design (focus on solutions for low-income families and on product-service systems) and Lean Production (reduction of waste and increase of value in production). His recent projects include: 2008 – 2011: Leapfrogging the low-income consumer (FINEP/CNPq); 2005 – 2008: Kits do-it-yourself for low income housing (financed by FINEP/CNPq); 2005 – 2006: Methodology for designing sustainable products for the electronics sector (funded by CNPq); 2004 – 2007: Methodology for designing sustainable products on cardboard (funded by Embrart/CNPq); 2004 – 2005: Methodology for designing sustainable products made of marble/granit (funded by TECPAR); 2002 – 2003: 1.0 House Project (financed by CITPAR). Currently he is an external evaluator for the European Community on the Learning Network on Sustainability, a project coordinated by Politecnico di Milano along with 6 other universities of Asia and Europe. He coordinates the cooperation agreements between UFPR and Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Köln International School of Design (Germany), Cape Peninsula University of Technology (South Africa) and Swinborne University (Australia).
