Formerly, I was a research fellow at the Observatory of Sciences and Technologies (1997-2001), at ICS-UL (2002-2005), at the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (JRC -European Commission, Seville, 2006) and at ICS-UL (2007-2009).
I specialise in social studies of science. I have carried out research on non-governmental organisations and volunteering, environmental risks, museums of science and public understanding of science, the use of the internet by children and international scientific mobility.
I am currently the principal investigator in two research projects: "Climate change adaptation and mitigation: challenges for science, technology and society" and "Scientific Societies in Contemporary Science"
