About

Andrew Dent is a GWR Research Fellow in the Materials Research Centre at the University of Bath. Having graduated in Materials Science at Bath in 2003, he remained there to obtain his PhD in ‘Novel active fibre composites’, investigating the design, simulation and manufacture of devices with PZT fibres arranged to achieve small but robust actuators capable of pumping. His current research involves the ‘Advanced fabrication of multifunctional materials’, and continues to study piezoelectric composites with a specific focus on ceramics with engineered porosity at multiple length scales to generate new sensor, actuator and biomedical devices.
