Dr Mena-Nieto is a Senior Lecturer in Project Management at the University of Huelva (UHU). He was a construction project manager in Spain before shifting to academia. Before joining UHU, he was working for the Spanish Government as legislative compliance inspector of industrial facilities and as academic at Seville University. His main research interests include energy planning, construction economics; project management; risk management; ICT in construction and sustainable built environment.
Dr Mena has published over seventy technical articles and conference papers, including those published in internationally renowned journals such as Automation in Construction, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Expert Systems with Applications, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy for Sustainable Development, Energy Policy, Journal of Cleaner Production, Materiales de Construction and Dyna Ingeniería e Industria. He was the Head of the Spanish delegation is the ISO/PC 236 Committee responsible for the elaboration of the ISO 21500 global standard. He is an Member of the Andalusian Chartered Institute of Industrial Engineers, the Spanish Association of Professional Engineers, Spanish Association of Project Management and Engineering. Dr Mena has served as Vice Chancellor for his University. He is also a regular referee for many internationally renowned journals.
