About

Antonio Roque was born in Sao Paulo, SP, Brazil. He received his BS degree in physics from the State University of Campinas, Brazil, in 1983, and his PhD degree in computer science and artificial intelligence from the University of Sussex, Brighton, UK, in 1992. He joined the faculty of the Department of Physics of the University of Sao Paulo at Ribeirao Preto, Brazil, in June, 1993. There, he founded the Laboratory of Neural Systems (Laboratorio de Sistemas Neurais - SisNe), which is one of the pioneer groups in Brazil on computational and theoretical neuroscience. He is also the director and organizer of the Latin American School on Computational Neuroscience (LASCON).
