Dr Ataur Belal is Head of Accounting Group and Professor of Accounting at Aston University Business School, Birmingham, UK. He was previously Director of the M.Sc. Accounting and Finance Programme at Aston. His principal research interest lies in the area of social and environmental accounting and accountability. His work in this area has led to a number of international large project collaborations funded by the British Council. His work has attracted over 1400 Google scholar citations. His research has been presented in leading international conferences and workshops in various countries around the world. He has published extensibly in the leading international journals in the field such as Work, Employment and Society, Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Journal of Business Ethics, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Accounting Forum and Advances in Accounting. Currently he is joint editor of Advances in Environmental Accounting and Management and an Associate Editor of Accounting Forum. In addition he holds editorial board memberships in another two journals. He also acts as regular reviewers of top management and accounting journals. Ataur obtained his Ph.D. in social and environmental accounting from the University of Sheffield, UK. He is a fellow member (FCCA) of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
