About

Ausama is a petroleum engineer with a doctorate in Geomechanics on the mechanical behaviour of rock fractures. He has varied experience in geomechanics, Carbon capture and storage-Enhanced oil recovery (CCS-EOR) and unconventional resources. He is currently involved in several research projects: e.g. fault reactivation in carbonate reservoirs project, induced seismicity project and micromechanical aspects of fracture propagation in CSG (coal seam gas) reservoirs. Ausama has previously worked for JOGMEC (Japan Oi, Gas and Metals National Corporation) in Tokyo on international multi-disciplinary projects, environmental investigation for onshore oilfield and has also led a commercial project on CCS-EOR in MENA. During this period, he worked closely with several Japanese manufacturing companies such as MHI, JGC, IAE, JFE, Kawasaki and Hitachi. Before that he worked as a reservoir and production engineer for more than ten years.
