A longtime South Florida administrative executive, Benigna Marko has past experience with Miami-Dade County’s Department of Planning and Zoning. In roles such as administrative services division director and administration & operations assistant director, she oversaw diverse functions involving human resources, budgeting, and public information. Responsible for computer services, Benigna Marko sought and obtained approval for an innovative electronic document management system.
Benigna Marko completed undergraduate and graduate degrees in public administration at Florida International University. While serving as an administrative assistant for Miami-Dade County’s Solid Waste Disposal & Chief Personnel Services in the early 1980s, she implemented the county’s first “garbage to energy” and recycling programs. From 1995 to 1998, she held responsibilities as regulation division chief of the Planning, Development and Regulation Department. In this capacity, she directed the enforcement and procedural implementation of a number of county codes, including minimum housing standards. On a personal level, Benigna Marko has a passion for dogs and enjoys photography involving people and animals.
