About

I am currently working towards my PhD in Management Engineering. My interests lie in applying advanced benchmarking strategies to gauge the sustainability of complex systems and their emergent properties. In particular, I am interested in urban systems and how to steward urban development in an ecologically responsible manner. My current project is directed towards improving methods for environmentally footprinting urban food consumption, and defining the potential for novel agricultural strategies (urban agriculture) to contribute towards the reduction of urban ecological overshoot. My recent academic work has primarily focused on the use of the life cycle assessment framework to quantify the environmental footprints of systems. Applications have ranged from commercial products (e.g. coffee thermos) to advanced socio-technical systems (e.g. cities). In my professional career I have worked on dozens of projects as both a project manager and analyst, growing my skillset as a consultant. In both academic and professional settings I have gained ample experience in interpreting and contextually applying environmental standards (ISO 14064 and ISO 14040 series) and regulatory literature (O.Reg 153/04). My current goal is to synthesize my academic and professional backgrounds as a sustainability analyst or consultant. I remain active in academia through contributions to scholarly publications (see below) and am furthering my understanding of sustainability through continuing education.
