About

My current role concerns the application of formal modelling approaches to biological systems. Specifically, I am applying novel open world logic programming techniques to modelling vulval development in C. elegans, and working on the development of new abstractions within computational biology. Previously I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Structural Bioinformatics and Computational Biology unit as part of the Oxford Centre for Integrative Systems Biology, under Professor Mark Sansom, and the centre for computational science at UCL, under professor Peter Coveney. These works concerned the application of multiscale modelling techniques to the methyl accepting chemoreceptors (MCPs) from E. coli, and drug development in HIV. I was presented with an Apple Laureate (http:// www.apple.com/uk/education/arts/) in 2008, and was awarded as co-PI a grant of $30,000 worth of Apple hardware for the project “A Biomolecular Simulation Pipeline”, during which I successfully developed the Sidekick software for understanding TM helix behaviour (follow SidekickSims on twitter for publications using the software). I also held a lectureship at St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford. I am currently an associate fellow under the Science 2020 program.
