Benjamin Sanchez received a double Telecommunication and Electronic engineering degree in 2006 and 2008, a M.Sc. with honors (3rd top-ranking student) in Electronic engineering in 2009, and a Ph.D. in Electronic engineering in 2012 at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain. After finishing his Ph.D., he was Visiting Scientist at the Department of Fundamental Electricity and Instrumentation at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, in 2012; and the Automatic Control Lab at KTH-Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, in 2013. Since January 2014, he has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School. His major contribution to science has been the development of novel methods for measuring impedance using a multidisciplinary approach that integrates control theory, system identification and experiment design. In August 2014, he received the honorary speaker invitation from the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine to attend the Medical Physics and Engineering Conference at UK, where he received the prestigious 2014 Martin Black Prize for the Best Paper Award in Physiological Measurement in 2013. He is also the winner of the 2014 President's Research Initiative Award from the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine; the 2014 Best Ph.D. Thesis Award from the UPC in 2012; and the 2015 Travel Award from the American Neurological Association. Dr. Sanchez has co-authored 26 articles published in refereed international journals. He is first-author of four publications distinguished as Featured Articles that were also Highlighted for their novelty and high impact in future research by Measurement Science and Technology in 2012, and Physiological Measurement in 2013 and 2015. Dr. Benjamin has been the first to have two Featured Articles in the same year ranked in the top 7 best articles published by Physiological Measurement in 2013.
