About

Prof.dr. B.F.A.M. van der Laan studied medicine at the State University of Utrecht, the Netherlands (MD 1987). He was trained as an ENT-specialist at the University medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands by: Prof.dr. E.H. Huizing & Prof.dr. G.J.Hor­dijk (Board certified 1992). He wrote his thesis on: “Sensitivity to Methotrexate and Novel-Antifolates in Human Squamous Carcinoma cell lines of the Head and Neck” during his residency (PhD 1991) at the University of Utrecht. Promotor was prof.dr. G.J. Hordijk, ENT-surgeon and co-promoters were: dr. J.H. Schornagel, Medical Oncology and dr. G. Jansen. He was a fellow Head and Neck Oncology of the Dutch Cancer Society (1992-1994) and a fellow in Head and Neck Oncology, Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada (1993-1994). In 1994 he joined the department of Otorhinolaryngology / Head & Neck Surgery of the University Medical Center Groningen, Groningen, the Netherlands as Chef de Clinique. In 2005 he was appointed as professor and Head of the department.
