My research and teaching centered on the application of electronic media to instructional purposes. My initial work was in educational television and then in computer performance support. The last few years I concentrated on people's perceptions of visual and verbal material designed to aid their performance of physical movements. Now that I am retired, I can get some work done. I have shifted to instructional material for music and sports performance. When applying research materials to practice, I play in a band. I am the kind of amateur musician that author George Bernard Shaw thought was used to populate hell to annoy other residents.
