I was born in Philadelphia, but I grew up on a farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. I moved into the city to go to high school at Charlottesville High near the University of Virginia. After high school, I moved back to Philadelphia for my undergraduate degree in political science and environmental studies at the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, I toke out time to pick up a minor in photography and worked as a bartender to pay the rent. While at Penn I had to move back and forth between Philadelphia and Washington DC for various policy- and environment-themed programs and internships in the US Capital. Continueing my energy and environmental policy interests, after completing my undergraduate degree, I continued my education with an international masters program in Environmental Management between Penn, Mines ParisTech (Ecole des Mines de Paris), and Tsinghua University in Beijing, focusing on clean energy development at the global scale. Today I live in Paris, working to develop business for a small engineering firm that performs carbon capture and storage (CCS) consulting and engineering design work.
