Post-doctoral fellow (MARE grant) at MARE-ISPA, dedicated to conservation and population genetics of aquatic organisms. Main specialization areas: Freshwater ichthyofauna, Population and Conservation Genetics, Fish Taxonomy, Phylogeny and Phylogeography, Fish Reproductive Behaviour and Ex-situ Conservation. Team member of a pioneer ex-situ conservation program for restocking purposes since 2007. Published the first Portuguese Genetic Diversity Atlas for native cyprinid fish. Scientific knowledge transfer as a freshwater fish specialist includes training courses for Biology teachers, seminars/workshops directed to a variety of audiences and several outreach activities. Participated in multidisciplinary teams to conduct environmental impact studies and in the scientific committee of LIFE projects (LIFE13/PT/000786 and LIFE13/ES/000772). Member of the IUCN Species Survival Comission and consultant of FishBase, Municipalities and NGO’s.
