Manager of the Medellín regional branch of Banco de la República de Colombia, took his B.S. in Civil Engineering at Escuela de Ingeniería de Antioquia, and his M.A. and Ph. D. in Economics at New York University. He had previously performed as Regional Chief Economist and researcher at the Medellín Branch. Before joining the Banco de la República, he was Director of Social Development at the Department of National Planning of Colombia, Deputy Director at the Administrative Department of National Statistics of Colombia, and professor and researcher at the Universidad de los Andes’ Department of Economics. His academic work includes research on labor markets, health, education, international migration, program evaluation, quality of life, and crime.
