    Carmen María Montiel is an experienced broadcast journalist who held news anchor and reporter responsibilities with Telemundo-Houston in the 1990s. A prominent member of the Houston community, she will be chairing the Latino Learning Center fashion show in March of 2015. This high-profile event will feature Miss Universe 2010 from Mexico, Ximena Navarrete. Carmen María Montiel’s role with Latino Learning Center includes serving as president of the John Globerg Patronato for Senior Housing. Ms. Montiel’s background in journalism extends to the 1980s in Venezuela, where she hosted the Venevision program Complicidades. This three-hour daily morning show encompassed news, beauty tips, and interviews with well-known public figures. She also hosted the 1986 Miss Universe Special in Panama City for Channel 4 Panama. Additionally, as a broadcasting and Spanish student at East Tennessee State University in the early 1990s, Ms. Montiel helped produce the locally-broadcasted student program, OMNI. She subsequently covered the GOP Convention in Houston as a member of Telemundo.
