About

I am currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Macquarie University. My research interests are the social study of biomedicine and the life sciences, especially of stem cell sciences and regenerative medicine. My anthropological project seeks to examine how these new scientific methods influence how we as individuals and as a society understand our bodies- especially our existential self and our physical and political bodies in relation to the world around us. My current research examines the politics of bioethical governance in the Australian public policy debate surrounding human embryonic stem cells and cloning research. While my previous research has focused on the social epidemiology of urban regeneration through experiences of the urban landscape in New Zealand / Aotearoa. I have taught anthropology and public health at Macquarie University, University of New South Wales, The University of Sydney, University of Otago and University of Canterbury.
