Cesar Harada [France - Japan] www.protei.org www.opensailing.net www.cesarharada.com Cesar funded Open_Sailing and works as lead researcher to develop the International_Ocean_Station. Cesar was recently project leader and researcher at the MIT SENSEable City Lab in Boston, but he just moved to New Orleans to work on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Cesar is currently a TED fellow 2010, a visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Art and at Goldsmiths University in London. Open_Sailing won the ARS Electronica Golden Nika [NEXT IDEA] grant, the Sustainable Art Award (BASH!), the Helen Hamlyn prize, Adobe Software development prize etc. Cesar worked as experimental physicist in hydrodynamics at the University of Southampton, taught graphic design at the Architecture school of Versailles. His publications, artworks, films, performances have been shown in prestigious venues around the world such as the Pompidou Center in Paris, the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, the CCCB in Barcelona, Niigata museum of contemporary Art JP, Miller Galery Pittsburgh US, Polychronopoulos art center in Athens Greece, ArtEz Academy Arnhem NL... Cesar Lectured at the V2_ Institute for the unstable Media Rotterdam, Barbican London, Art & Architecture Association London, MIT Tangible Media lab Cambridge, ARS Electronica Linz Austria, TED Long Beach, TEDxBoston... Cesar has an MA from Design Interactions at the Royal College of Art (RCA), another MA from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs Paris (ENSAD), Animation course. Cesar also studied graphic design at Central Saint Martins London UK, as an exchange student. He studied industrial design at the Les Ateliers Saint-Sabin (ENSCI). Cesar Harada graduated as Section’s Major in the Applied Arts section of Ecole Boulle with the best results in French history in 2001. In his youth Cesar was Paris Judo champion (<56kg) and a passionate sailor.
