Charles Aaron Lawry earned a Ph.D. in Consumer Sciences at the University of Arizona and an M.A. in Ethnomusicology at Columbia University. Prior to entering academia, Professor Lawry was a successful interactive copywriter in New York City. At UA, Prof. Lawry worked under the tutelage of Dr. Anita Bhappu and the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing, and he ran quantitative research studies on behalf of Demandware and Contactless Data. Demandware later sponsored his dissertation on parasocial interaction and social media participation. These experiences with interactive marketing, music and consumer research, in toto, helped shape Prof. Lawry’s research interests in social media, mobile marketing and celebrity culture.
